Sewage stink unbearable

The stench of sewage leaking into stagnant storm drain water in a water gully near a popular shopping mall, family restaurant and entertainment centre on the outskirts of the city, has become too much for residents living and working in the area to bear.
Joyce Michaels, who works nearby, said the stench had become an enormous problem. “For me, as a pregnant woman who is suffering from morning sickness, the stench has become more and more of a problem.
“And I can only imagine that other people are also suffering from this very bad smell. With summer nearly here it will only become more serious and may even become a health issue,” she said, adding that the matter had been reported several times by her and other residents.
Municipal spokespersons could not be reached for comment on the matter even though numerous requests were made by e-mail and telephone over a two-week period.
