THE Musina mayor, Carol Phiri, accompanied by councillors, visited local schools on the first day of school last Wednesday to encourage learners and teachers to start their lessons with enthusiasm and to motivate gr. 12 learners to study hard.

On her visit to Musina High School, Phiri pledged full support for the learners and teachers. She thanked the school governing body, teachers, parents, learners, the department of education and all stakeholders who had made 2013 a successful year for their efforts. Musina High School obtained a 70,9% matric pass rate in 2013 .

“Learners must study hard and take education seriously because it is through education that knowledge and information are received and spread throughout the world. They must forget about everything else and put their studies first,” said Phiri.

Phiri also introduced the Musina Municipality’s mayoral study donations, which are presented to deserving learners every year.

“We encourage learners to make use of this opportunity. The municipality is always there to assist learners to achieve their educational goals,” she said.

The school’s principal, Abram Ligavha said the school’s recipe for success was team work, dedication and proper planning.
