Tyres and spare parts are Phuti’s labour of love

PHUTI Mokgothloa (35) is the perfect example of a confident woman who believes anything is possible.

Mokgothloa runs her own vehicle spare part business, Dikgomo Tyres, in Mobokele Crossing.

She says people expect men to run a shop like hers and are surprised to find a woman in charge.

Justice Seanego is a regular customer of Mokgothloa and says he returns to her shop because of her expertise and customer service. “When I first came here, I did not trust her, but she proved me wrong and now I am a regular,” he says.

Regardless of the challenges she faces every day, Mokgothloa still works hard to create employment in her community.

“I am looking for people to help me run my business,” she says.

Mokgothloa says she wants to encourage women to step out of their comfort zones and become independent. “Don’t rely on a man to provide for you, take your life into your own hands,” she says.
