THE Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Waterberg have come out with guns blazing at the police, who they are accusing of practising double standards.
EFF Mogalakwena party agent, Phistus Chokwe claims he was beaten up by an ANC party agent at the IEC voter registration centre in Mahwelereng Phafula village on Sunday, following an argument over a chair.
He said the police were treating his alleged attacker with kid gloves and giving him VIP treatment. “Instead of arresting him and transporting him in a police van, he was allowed to travel with a friend to the police station. He returned to the venue shortly thereafter and continued with his work as an ANC party agent.
“It seems as if they are treating him nicely because he is from a powerful family,” Chokwe alleged. He said his organisation would take the matter up with the IEC.
Provincial police spokes-person, Hangwani Mulaudzi said the police did not discriminate when they did their job. He said people who felt they were mistreatedby the police had the right to lodge a complaint with their local station’s commander.
The ANC Limpopo had not responded to CV’s request for comment by the time of going to print.
