VINCENT Raboshakga of Mogwadi was recently crowned as the winner of a Midas taxi make-over competition, walking away with a make-over worth R20 000 for his taxi.
In order to stand a chance to win during the competition, which ran from October 1 to November 30, taxi owners were required to buy car parts worth R150 or more at any Midas store and send an SMS with the code that could be found on their till slips.
The prize includes the installation of a DVD player, mechanical refurbishing of his taxi, a new set of tyres and accessories of his choice from the local Midas store. Midas northern region franchise manager, Danie Swanepoel said: “We recently had a request from a few franchisees in our region to assist them with specials to target the taxi market. Subsequent to this request, management made a decision to aggressively focus on this market by running a two-month promotion. We foresee this becoming a regular promotion in the future”.
Raboshakga’s taxi will receive a rear window decal with the logos of all the suppliers that participated in the competition.
Raboshakga said he was delighted about winning. Tommie Smit, the store owner of Midas Bochum said the competition was a way of giving back to the community, while attracting the taxi industry to consider Midas when looking to buy new car parts.
