POLOKWANE – Residents who use more municipal services, will pay more. The higher the consumption of water and electricity, the more residents will pay.
With the commencement of the new municipal financial year on July 1, a proposed basic electricity charge of R64 per month for domestic households will be introduced. The municipality has also introduced another block in the stepped tariff structure.
Residents will now pay as follows:
Electricity tariffs:
• Basic monthly charge, previously nothing, now R64.
• Block 1 (0 – 50 units used per month), previously 67c per unit, now 71c per unit.
• Block 2 (51 – 350 units used per month), previously 82c per unit, now 87c per unit.
• Block 3 (351 – 600 units used per month), previously R1,11 per unit, now R1,19 per unit.
• Block 4 (more than 600 units used per month), previously R1,33 per unit, now R1,43 per unit.
Water tariffs:
Residential:
• First 5Kl, previously R5,18 per Kl, now R5,54 per Kl.
• The following 10Kl, previously R7,83, now R8,38 per Kl.
• The following 15Kl, previously R8,46 per Kl, now R9,05 per Kl.
• The following 20Kl, previously R11,17, now R11,95.
• The following 50Kl, previously R13,51 per Kl, now R14,46 per Kl.
• In excess of 100Kl, previously R16,45 per Kl, now R17,49 per Kl.
Non-Residential:
• First 30Kl, previously R11,17 per Kl, now R11,85 per Kl.
• The following 20Kl, previously R15,02, now R16,07 per Kl.
• The following 50Kl, previously R17,11, now R18,31 per Kl.
• The following 19 900 Kl, previously R18,62 per Kl, now R19,92 per Kl.
• In excess of 20 000 Kl, previously R14,26 per Kl, now R15,26 per Kl.
Sanitation charges are calculated according to the surface area of the erf as indicated. Free sanitation will be applicable for registered indigents.
Erven not exceeding 500m² will pay no charge for sanitation fees.
All other erven, tariffs as from July 1:
• The first 500m² or part thereof, of surface area of erf, previously R31,20, now R33,38 per month.
• Thereafter, per 500m² or part thereof up to 2 000m² of the surface area of the erf, previously R10,23, now R11,07 per month.
• Thereafter, per 1 000m² or part thereof of the surface area of the erf, previously R8,25, now R8,83 per month.
• Additional charges for unimproved erven, previously R11,93, now R12,77 per month.
• Maximum charge, previously R7 363,50, now R7 881,14 per month.
Waste removal:
A 6% increase as from July 1 means waste removal from an erf with a surface area not exceeding 500m² will cost R29,66 per month. Thereafter, an additional surface of 500m² will mean an increase to R47,64 per month, and for an additional 500m² another R31,75 per month.
A maximum of R396,99 on 11 000m² will be charged as from July 1.
