IT IS still not known what the charges relating to the suspension of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality municipal manager, Masiye Mankabidi, are as no charge sheet has been forthcoming.

Mankabidi was suspended with full pay by mayor, Dikeledi Mmetle on March 4, following a decision made by the council. His suspension came after allegations of a irregularly-awarded tenders were made.

Approached for comment, Mankabidi refused to speak to CV and referred all enquiries to the municipality.

The South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) also remained tight lipped on the matter, and referred all enquiries in this regard to the mayor.

According to municipal spokesperson, Neville Ndlala, the process of Mankabidi’s suspension was still ongoing. However, he would not say whether any documents containing the charges against Mankabidi had been sent to him.

“That’s all I can say about this matter because the council is still working on it,” Ndlala said.
