RESIDENTS of Ga-Kgapane village near Modjadjiskloof say the continued water shortage made their lives very difficult.
The residents say they have experienced this problem for years, but both the Greater Letaba and Mopani District Municipalities have done nothing to address the problem.
This comes just after the DA’s leader in Limpopo, Jacques Smalle, said the DA feared that communities in Modjadjiskloof would suffer a water shortage due to alleged mismanage-ment.
Molate Machubeni, one of the concerned residents, says they have to walk to their relatives’ houses in Ga-Rapitsi, to use the toilets when nature calls.
Machubeni says they still struggle with this problem, despite numerous promises from municipal officials that the water supply to the village would be improved.
He says officials said there were plans in the pipeline to expand the Politsi Dam, the only source of water for the area.
“Once the dam is expanded, our water problems should be a problem of the past,” says Machubeni.
CV tried to contact Mopani spokesperson, Neil Shikwambana, but by the time of going to print, he was unable to provide any comment.
