EVEN though a motion was passed during a special council meeting, preventing councillors from leaking any information discussed during council sittings to the media recently, some councillors were still willing to take the chance of doing so, albeit anonymously.
According to one councillor who spoke to CV late last week, the decision was taken by members of the mayoral committee, and later communicated to the other councillors during a closed meeting.
“It is said that anyone found leaking information to the media will face disciplinary action,” he said.
The councillor further said there was a lot happening within the municipality, which some councillors were not happy about.
However, he would not discuss these matters further, except to say that members of the executive committee sometimes made decisions that eventually had serious consequences when it came to the financial side of things.
“The media is here to serve as watchdogs that always make us pull up our socks in the delivery of basic services to the communities that we serve,” the councillor opined.
