2 patrol cars for local taxi associations

DMN Panelbeaters and BC Towing donated two patrol cars, an Opel Corsa sedan and a Renualt Clio, to the Seshego-Polokwane Taxi Association and the Moletjie Taxi Association on Friday.

POLOKWANE – DMN Panelbeaters and BC Towing donated two patrol cars, an Opel Corsa sedan and a Renualt Clio, to the Seshego-Polokwane Taxi Association and the Moletjie Taxi Association on Friday.

According to Marius Fourie from BC Towing, the donation was their way of thanking the two taxi associations for their loyal support.

He said these associations had supported DMN Panelbeaters and BC Towing for many years.

“We intend to donate more cars to other associations in future.

“This was just a starting point for us and naturally the first recipients of donations were those who supported us the most,” Fourie explained.

He said the cars were also equipped with safety vests, road cones, rotating traffic lights and fire extinguishers for safety reasons.

“The vehicles are also insured and will be serviced before their service entry and circulated every two years,” he said, adding that while the vehicles were pre-owned, they were still in good condition.

Capricorn District Taxi Council chairperson, Solly Ledwaba, thanked both companies for donating such incredibly practical and useful items to the taxi industry.

“This is one of the best gifts the taxi industry has received in a long time. I am so glad that DMN Panelbeaters and BC Towing recognised the taxi industry with these wonderful gifts.

“Many companies promised to help us a long time ago but failed to keep their promises.

“These vehicles should not be used for personal purposes and are not meant to lead strikes and marches,” Ledwaba said.

Moletjie Taxi Association chairperson Sam Maleka, said their relationship with DMN Panelbeaters and BC Towing started years ago and was still going strong.

“The two companies have been helping us a lot and I am delighted they decided to give the associations patrol cars.

“We hope other companies will follow in their footsteps and join forces with the taxi industry,” Maleka said.

Seshego Polokwane Taxi Association secretary, Luka Sethosa said the association was thankful.

“I would like to thank the Capricorn District Taxi Council for negotiating such a wonderful deal with these two companies.

“We promise to look after the cars so that they can last many years,” Sethosa said.

Fourie concluded by saying if it was not for the taxi industry, their businesses would not be the successes they were today, and he hoped the relationship between them would remain strong.
