Local Samaritan reaches out to help keep school’s premises in shape

Far North Cleaning and Pest Control cleaned Westenburg Secondary School's back yard recently.

POLOKWANE – Far North Cleaning and Pest Control cleaned Westenburg Secondary School’s back yard recently.

This after a resident found and killed a snake that came slithering from the back yard of the school in February.

Review reported that the school did not have money to clean the premises and following this article Patrick Pheeha, owner of Far North Cleaning and Pest Control, approached the school management and offered to clean the premises.

Before Pheeha and his team cleaned the premises, there was long grass in the school’s back yard and residents believed that there were more snakes hiding in the bushes besides the one was killed.

A local snake expert, Kobus Seegers, confirmed that snakes were often found where rats, mice, frogs and lizards were found.

Seegers advised that it was important to always keep premises clean so that rats and mice were not lured to the property.

“When I read the article I felt the need to assist the school, because the learners and teachers were at risk of being bitten by a snake.

“We also have people from the community that support our business so it is only right that we plough back into the community. We also decided to adopt the school and in future, when needed, we will come and clean the school premises,” Pheeha said.

Far North Cleaning and Pest Control will do maintenance of the school yard for pest control and all types of crawling insects.

“We will mainly cut grass and put out snake repelling treatments every year,” Pheeha said.

Westenburg Secondary School acting principal, Jimmy Steele, thanked Pheeha and his team for their support and much needed contribution to the school.

“We really appreciate what you have done for the school and we look forward to working with you in future. Thank you Review, because of your article we received help,” Steele said.
