Municipal truck obstructs 2 lanes of traffic in Hans van Rensburg street

POLOKWANE – A municipal truck which was parked in Hans van Rensburg Street last Thursday infuriated motorists travelling in the street.

The truck was parked in the first two lanes heading towards Grobler Street and obstructed all traffic in that direction.

But not even the insistent hooting by motorists seemed to bother either the driver of the truck or his passenger for the 30 minutes they parked in the same spot.

One of the motorists, Lawrence Hlungwane, even banged on the side of the truck to get the driver to move out of the way.

“The driver simply ignored my hooting, shouting and banging against the truck. It seemed as if the two men were just chatting and not making any deliveries or doing work that would validate them being parked like that,” said Hlungwane.

Photos of the parked truck were sent to the Polokwane Municipality and municipal spokesperson, Tidimalo Chuene said the municipality would investigate the matter.

She said in instances where municipal property such as vehicles were found in the wrong, they could be reported to the municipality at (015) 290 2000 or (015) 290 2111.
