TAXI SHOOTING: roads are open

The road between Polokwane and Mankweng and the road passed Mall of the North is open.

POLOKWANE -The road between Polokwane and Mankweng and the road passed Mall of the North  is open.

 

This was after  taxi violence between rival groups of Mankweng and Polokwane broke out on the  R81 bypass on Thursday (yesterday) afternoon.

According to Captain Phala they were in negotiations with the two taxi associations until the early hours of this morning.

They have reached and agreement, but a follow up meeting will be held on Monday.

Ben Nonyana, newly elected Mankweng Taxi Association Rank Manager , was shot and injured in the incident. He is currently in a stable condition.

Captain Phala yesterday said that the members from Flora Park/Seshego and Polokwane/Mankeng taxi associations have been engaged in rivalry since Wednesday (yesterday) and the problem has been escalating for a while.

No arrests have been made.
