POLOKWANE – Supersport United football player, Thabo September, handed the soccer equipment over to the Polokwane Royals Football Academy at the Westenburg Sports Ground on Friday night.
The donation forms part of the reach out programme of the player’s foundation – Thabo September Foundation. The foundation is partnered by Puma.
September donated 30 soccer bibs, 80 cones, stop watches, a coaching board, whistles, caps and T-shirts.
According to September, Puma sponsored 12 soccer balls, ball pumps and also undertook to provide soccer kits for each division.
“I come from a small town in Knysna and I know how difficult it is to be noticed if you play your sport outside urban areas. This is why the Thabo September Foundation focuses on small areas to give them exposure and create opportunities to prove themselves and showcase their talent,” September explained.
Polokwane Royals Football Academy is a club in Westenburg owned by Morris More.
The academy has 75 players who are divided into four categories: u/12, u/15, u/17 and the senior team.
More thanked September and Puma for the the donation. “The training equipment will really make a big difference in our club and also in the community. With the equipment, we will be able to improve our skills and train harder to perfect our game. I would also like to thank Thabo September for taking some time out to come and encourage our players – it really means a lot, not just to me, but to each and every player,” More added.
