LIMPOPO – Residents of Matlala Ramoshebo village in the Sekhukhune district woke up to a shocking discovery last Tuesday at about 08:00 when one of them found some human bones in a veld nearby.
The police said it could not be determined exactly how long the bones lay in the veld.
However, they said, they suspected it could have been over two months.
Const Lethunya Mmuroa, Marble Hall police spokesperson, confirmed that an inquest docket was opened following the horrific discovery of the human bones.
Mmuroa added that no flesh remained on the bones.
He said this made it difficult for the police to estimate the period that the body had lain there.
“Police investigations on the discovery continue. The bones were taken to Groblersdal government mortuary for DNA tests.
“The results of the DNA tests will assist with identification. We appeal to anyone with information to contact police at (013) 261 8614,” Mmuroa said.
In a separate incident, a body in an advanced stage of decomposition was found inside a house in Leeuwfontein last Sunday at around 07:00. The police are investigating the matter.
