MOKOPANE – As part of a new tradition at Mokopane English Combined School (MECS), on the Gr 12 learners’ last official school day, they attend their final ceremony known as “The Guard of Honour”, where they each left a padlock at school.

The locks serves as a reminder that every learner is locked close to the heart of the school community and to encourage them to find the keys to their bright futures.

The word “locks” represents Live, Observe, Care and Confidence, Knowledge and Spirit. Each learner took home a copy of the locks’symbolism and an encouraging message to take with on their life journey.

After they sang the anthem for the last time they walked through the honorary guard formed by the whole school.

MECS wishes its Gr 12 learners all the best for the future, and is eagerly waiting for them to come back and unlock their padlocks when they have achieved their goals.
