Are you proud to be ugly? Then show it off

Are you ugly and proud of it? Are your looks something people only usually see in horror movies? If so, now is your chance to shine by taking part in the Mr Ugly SA contest

POLOKWANE – Mr Ugly SA pageant organiser, Eliyah Papole, hails from Moletjie and says ugly men of any age can participate in the contest, which will take place at Polokwane Library Gardens on 26 March.

Papole plans to make the contest an annual event, and it will be hosted in a different province each year. The contest will serve to raise funds for the disadvantaged including needy learners, orphanages and old age homes.

“We need at least 30 ugly men to enter this contest. Even though we have already received over 58 entries, 33 didn’t qualify as they are just not ugly enough,” he says.

He says he decided to hold the contest because pageants usually only focus on good-looking people.

“Everyone should be given a chance to showcase his look, even if he is no oil painting. It’s time for our ugly men to be proud of who they are and what they look like. Ugly people should also be recognised and not discriminated against just because of what they look like,” he explains.

“This year the contest is in Limpopo, and next year it will be in Mpumalanga; we hope the contest attracts more business people and sponsors so that we can assist poor families throughout the country,” he said.

“Though it is not easy for someone to appreciate that he’s ugly, we hope that the prizes to be won will encourage people to be part of this contest. We should support these people and give them exposure,” he concludes.

To enter the contest, Whatsapp a head and shoulders photo, full names and province to 079 160 6909 or send an e-mail to info@maxiskymedia.com.

The prizes to be won are as follows:

• 1st prize – R3 500, PC tablet and R150 airtime.

• 2nd prize -R2 500, PC tablet and R150 airtime.

• 3rd prize – R1 500, PC tablet and R100 airtime.
