Mitchell House hosted a successful open day on Wednesday when learners hoping to be accepted at the school and their parents were shown around the facilities and informed about what the school has to offer.
Apart from the 2016 Grade 7 class, 60 persons turned up proving the institution’s popularity among those who seek quality education.
The guests were greeted by Mitchell House prefects and had the chance to meet each other before Head of College, Claude Goeminne and the prefects led the visitors in a tour of the hostel, school grounds and classrooms, where they enjoyed first-hand experience of lessons in subjects like Life Sciences and Physics.
“At Mitchell House we are like one big family where every learner is special,” Headmaster Andrew Cook explained during a session when he and some of the educators interacted with the visitors.
At Mitchell House classes are small and allow for substantial, meaningful interaction between learners and educators. The school firmly maintains the principle of sport being an important part of the educational process that stands to equip them with values and skills that will be of benefit throughout their lives. The school’s well developed sporting facilities allow learners to participate in codes such as athletics, swimming, cricket, basketball, tennis, chess, rugby, soccer, netball, fencing and hockey, all under the watchful guidance of suitable coaches.
In terms of cultural development the school does not fall behind and boasts the modern amenities required to develop its learners as well rounded human beings that are sensitive to both cultural diversity and the value of the finer things in life.
The prospective Grade 8s were in agreement about wanting to enrol at the school and said at the end of the visit that they can’t wait to start at Mitchell House next year.
