POLOKWANE – Mitchell House Headmaster, Andrew Cook, and the Director of Studies for the college, Claude Goeminne, welcomed the learners and their parents from several schools in and around Polokwane, and some from neighbouring towns like Laerskool Louis Trichardt.
The tour started in the college section of the school where the new learners will attend their classes. Here, life sciences and physics teachers, Douglas Friedmann and Andrew Chikochi, explained to the learners what they can expect.
Chikochi persormed an experiment for the learners and let them to get in on the fun by allowing them to perform several experiments themselves to show the learners and their parents what they can expect during their classes.
The tour moved on to the Enrichment Centre which Goeminne explained was an integral part of the school ethos. The visitors carried on to the Boarding House where they received a tour of the boarding facilities offered by the school.
The tour ended with a performance by the drama students in the theatre followed by testimonials from two Gr 8 learners, Sakhiwe Shezi and Neo Maropa, who received scholarships to attend the school.
Sakhiwe said the main language of Mitchell House is “love” and Neo said two core values of the school are dignity and integrity.
After the tour, Cook thanked the learners and their parents for attending and said he hoped to see them again soon.
