Man (32) pleads not guilty for murder

Errol Chabalala (32) from Thomo village outside Giyani has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Nhlalala Khosa

LIMPOPO – Chabalala appeared in the Giyani Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday after he handed himself in at the Giyani Police Station a day after the murder.

According to WO Thomas Makhubele, the deceased was shot as he defended Chabalala’s sister, with whom Chabalala had got into an argument with outside a bottle store.

Khosa was shot in the chest six times and died on the scene. His uncle, Dennis Msimeki, said the family was saddened by his death, and they prayed the law ran its course.

Khosa’s friend, Neville Ntsanwisi, said he was deeply distraught upon hearing the news of his death. He described his late friend as a caring individual and peace-loving, “which is what led to his passing”.

Chabalala, represented by attorney Busiso Mnguni made his first appearance in court on 13 April and was kept in custody.

Mnguni maintained his client was kept in custody unlawfully. Chabalala is expected to appear in court again this week for bail application.
