Man to be charged after 2 bodies found hanging in tree

A 42-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of the bodies of the two 5-year-old girls, from Ribone village near Gilead, who went missing last week.

LIMPOPO – The two friends, Lekwelo Ennie Masola and Nthabiseng Motlaphema, went missing on Wednesday after they were last seen playing at an RDP house in the area,” said provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

The police together with members from the community, launched a large search and on Saturday, came across the girl’s naked bodies hanging from a tree approximately 3km from the town,” said Otto.

Whether they were raped before being killed will form part of the police investigation added Otto.

The suspect, a farm worker in the area, is due in court later this week.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Limpopo Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba expressed his shock and outrage over this heinous act especially with the protection and rights of children being celebrated this week.
He urged parents to protect and look after their children and to always know of their whereabouts and whether they are safe.
