POLOKWANE – Nell, former director at Data Master Office Automation, was arrested by the Hawks in February 2014 on charges of fraud.
According to Limpopo Hawks spokesperson, Lt Matimba Maluleke, Nell was further ordered to pay back R1 million to Absa.
“In 2009 the accused presented fraudulent documents to Absa Bank, the complainant in the case, indicating that an old office machine (2003 model) was indeed a newer 2009 model. The bank procured the machine for the University of Limpopo – which Nell’s company was the supplier. The bank suffered a loss of R5 282 962,” explained Maluleke.
Nel has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment wholly suspended for five years, concluded Maluleke.
