UPDATE: 2 more suspects arrested in girls’ murders

The 42-year-old farm worker who was arrested in connection with the murder of two 5-year-old girls from Ribone village in Gilead has been released, say the police.

LIMPOPO – Provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto said, further investigation and questioning led to the release of the suspect.

“He could not linked to the kidnapping and murder,” said Otto.

However, two other suspects, aged 31 and 24, have now been arrested by the Limpopo tracking unit in connection with murder and kidnapping. They are due to appear in the Gilead Periodical Court today (Tuesday).

The two friends, Lekwelo Ennie Masola and Nthabiseng Motlaphema were reported missing last Wednesday, and the police, together with the community launched a search party.

They came across the girls’ naked bodies hanging from a tree approximately 3km from the town on Saturday, said Otto in a previous statement.
