Borehole quenches learners’ thirst
The learners and teachers at Baltimore Primary School, about 130 km's outside of Mokopane, thirst was quenched thanks to the drilling of a borehole that was made possible by the Mokopane Women's Forum.
MOKOPANE – This after taps in numerous villages in Mogalakwena ran dry due to the ongoing drought. The dynamic ladies from the Akasia Muslim Community rolled up their sleeves and organised a fundraiser tea earlier this year to contribute to the funds for boreholes.
Azhar Vadi, founder of Salaammedia, previously stated: “Water shortages in the country will be an ongoing problem and we have to think of sustainable ways to produce water, thus the drilling of boreholes.”
The women raised enough funds for one borehole and in cooperation with Salaammedia they recently successfully facilitated a borehole at Baltimore Primary School.
Ndo Mangala, District Senior Manager of Education, expressed his gratitude and said it warms his heart to know that the water need at Baltimore Primary School has now been lightened.
