Knights Braai Competition: 5th round teams announced
The teams to compete in the 5th round of the Limpopo Toyota Knights Braai Competition were announced at Ballantinos on Monday evening.
POLOKWANE – This week the women braai team from Hi-Q Middestad showed that it is not only men who can braai up a storm, when they won the fourth round of the competition.

The winning dish included:
• Starter:
Cheesy Camembert bread and onion marmalade with a hearty warm jug of Glühwein (mulled wine) sunshine.
• Main:
Slowly roasted leg of lamb stuffed with a creamy mushroom sauce.
Grilled tender crunchy pistachio and parmesan crusted rack of lamb served with a scrumptious grated parmesan potato cake.
Butternut puree combined with maple syrup and wrapped asparagus crowns buttered and spiced.
• Dessert:
Death by chocolate sphere that sends you straight into mousse heaven where each velvety bite reveals a melt in your mouth journey of mocha and Amarula, separated by salted caramel nuts and topped with fresh cherry jubilee and cream.

The judges for this round were Dirk Liebenberg, Christo Hildebrand and the mystery judge Martin Kobalt, head chef and owner of four chef schools.
Kobalt said was so impressed by the Hi-Q Middestad team’s braai skills that he even said he would like to learn a thing or two from their methods.
After the competition, Kobalt offered his signed World Association Chef Society Wall of Fame chef jacket up for auction.
He also offered a course at the Kobalt’s Chef School to one of the braaiers, Riaan Coetzee, who dreams of becoming a chef.

The teams taking part in this coming Monday’s round are Voorpos Makelaars, Netwerk Makelaars and Kainos and the meat they will have to prepare is pork.
