SOS owner addresses incident

A fight which erupted between Gary O'Farrell, owner of Special Operations Solution (SOS) and another man in a restaurant in town resulted in a storm on social media

MOKOPANE – Is it acceptable to define someone and their business based on one negative action, in comparison to a multitude of accomplishments?

This is the question that was raised by numerous residents after Gary O’Farrell, owner of Special Operations Solution (SOS) ,made a mistake in public on Monday night.

A fight erupted between O’Farrell and another man in a restaurant in town and it resulted in a storm on social media, as one of the witnesses expressed her feelings on Facebook.

People commented and said they were disappointed in O’Farrell’s actions and that as an owner of a company he should set an example.

O’Farrell, who was very distraught, told Bosveld on Tuesday morning that he regretted the incident, but that he is a father and a husband first and foremost and then he is the proud owner of SOS.

“When I walked into the restaurant with my family and I saw the man who was harassing my wife and my family for the last few months, I was enraged. I apologise for upsetting the customers and I hope that my business and my character is not defined by this single action.”

Marcelle Maritz, Head Organiser of the Freedom Front Plus in Limpopo, said: “I know O’Farrell and his actions on Monday night was totally out of character.

“He is a loving father and husband and SOS’s accomplishments speaks for itself.

“He is a great man and an even greater leader who is respected by his employees and he is always willing to help. Let us not cast a stone as we all make mistakes”.

O’Farrell thanked Hennie Yeates, reaction-officer of Suricat, for his assistance and professionalism.
