Severed head case postponed

Houses belonging to the two suspect's parents were burned down last week.

POLOKWANE – Edward Raatjis Madiya (50) and Stanley Mohloke (33) were denied bail by the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court after appearing on charges of possession of human body parts on Tuesday.

The duo were arrested in Market Street, Polokwane after the police found the head of a woman wrapped in newspapers in the vehicle they were travelling in.

The police received a tip-off about people who sell human body parts which led them to the arrest of the two suspects.

The case was postponed to today (Thursday) and the suspects were remanded in custody.

Several people in the Mapila community in Mahwelereng decided to burn down the houses belonging to the two suspects’ parents.

According to Mahwelereng Police Spokesperson, Const Sello Leso, the houses were burnt down last week in two separate incidents.

“We have opened a case of arson but no arrests have been made yet. We are still investigating the matter and the perpetrators will be brought to book,” explained Leso.

The two suspects face charges of possession of human body parts and murder.

They appeared briefly in the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court on Friday on charges of murder.

They appeared again in the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Wednesday) and was postponed to 27 July.
