LIMPOPO – 40 criminals who were terrorising communities in Thohoyandou, Burgersfort, Maake, Lephalale, Giyani, Namakgale were arrested in an police sting intelligence driven operation which lasted until early Saturday morning.
These suspects, aged between 22 to 49 years old, have been connected to a series of crimes ranging from robbery, rape, bussiness robbery, possession of drugs to possession of suspected stolen property and firearms said provincial police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
During the operation a number of illegal and stolen items were recovered which included: 8 plasma TV’s, 10 cell phones, drugs, dagga, 2 firearms and R12 000 cash of money. The combined value of all recovered items R165 833.55 added Ngoepe.
3 vehicles to the value of R640 000 were also recovered.
All suspects will be appearing before the various Magisterial courts soon.
The Provincial Commissioner–LT. General Nneke Jimmy Ledwaba congratulated the members on the job-well done and cautioned all the criminals or criminals to be to refrain from all criminal acts and urged the community members to report any criminal activities to the nearest police station.
