A bright future for learners
26-year-old Miss Heritage, Thato Phooto Ramonyai, from Polokwane recently visited two schools in Mapela village outside of Mokopane as part of her outreach called Peer-on-Peer Educators
MOKOPANE – Ramonyai was warmly welcomed at Manthutulele – and Maserunyane High School where she motivated the Gr 11 and 12 learners to focus on their future.
Ramponyai said: ” We prepare them for life after school and through art and poetry, we attempt to show them the value of reading. Through this outreach we teach them that no matter the challenge, you hold the key to your future. I strongly believe that through hard work and determination, you can achieve anything.”
Peer-on-Peer Educators is a non-profitable organisation (NPO) that was first founded in 2012 in America by Arthur Masoma and Ramonyai and her fellow colleagues call this method of motivation Edutainment.
Ramonyai is a compassionate young lady who is working hard to create a better future for the youth.
She feels strongly about the advancement of Africa from a cultural, educational and entrepreneurial point of view. “I’m passionate about preserving the art of African history, origins, richness and Authenticity. Our culture, languages and age old fundamental practices are slowly fading out of existence and I want to see to it that, that does not happen.”
She is currently working at her realising her own dream, to start her own NPO that will focus on creating sustainable food security systems in impoverished communities to mainly assist, schools, homes and orphanages that get inadequate or no support from the government. The NPO will also focus highly on Education in the rural areas.
She concluded the morning with the following words: “Mental fortitude and a positive spirit can carry you through any obstacle and challenge you may face in life. So teach yourself to harness and build upon those qualities.”
