Two shot in a cross-fire in Akasia

A reaction-officer from Suricat Armed Response and a passing motorist were shot during an alleged armed robbery at around 22:15 yesterday night (Saturday).

MOKOPANE – According to Suricat five armed suspects targeted the house in Olienhout Street in Akasia. On arriving at the scene the officers walked into a ‘rainstorm’ of bullets. One officer and a passing motorist were both shot in the leg during the cross-fire.

The resident told Bosveld he was driving past when one of the suspects opened fire on his vehicle. He was pulled from the vehicle and told to lie down on the ground. According to the motorist the bullets fortunately went straight through his right leg and he is already at home recovering.

The reaction-officer is still in Voortrekker Hospital recovering.

Investigations are ongoing say Suricat.

This incident has not been confirmed by Mokopane police as yet.
