Body parts suspect denied bail

Edward Raatji (50), one of the two suspects arrested for the possession of human body parts on 10 July in Polokwane, has been denied bail in the Mokerong Magistrate's court today (Friday).

LIMPOPO – Raatjie and his co accused Matsobane Stanley Mohlake (33) were arrested on 10 July after the police followed up on a lead about people selling human body parts near the taxi rank in Polokwane.

The police stopped and searched the suspects’ vehicle in which they found the head of a woman wrapped in a newspaper. The headless burned body of a woman was discovered on 11 July in Mapela after the police followed up on information received. The men previously appeared in the Mokerong Magistrate’s where Mohlake withdrew his bail application, reported Mahwelereng Police Spokesperson, Constable Leso.

Raatji’s bail application was again postponed  to October 21.
