R500 000 suspected stolen property recovered in SAPS operation

Six Malawian nationals aged between 24-28 arrested for the possession of suspected stolen property will appear in the Burgersfort Magistrate's Court on Monday, say the police.

LIMPOPO – The suspects were arrested on Friday at around 17:00 during a  tactical intelligence-led operation conducted by Burgersfort CI, Burgersfort Vispol and Burgersfort Detectives at Mareseleng village outside of Burgersfort.

“The suspects were traced to a store room where items estimated to the value of R500 000 was recovered,” says provincial police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The recovered items are as follows: of 13 cell phones, 2 Plasma TV’S, 4 TV sets, 19 bicycles, 2 car radio, 7 DVD players, 15 big speakers, 8 Ermeson Batteries for Network Towers, 2 generators, 2 invertors, 4 amplifiers, 2 Telkom cordless phones.

The suspects who are in the country legally failed to give a reasonable explanation or to provide ownership documents of the properties. They will appear in court on the charge of  possession of suspected stolen property.
