Domestic tiff turns violent in upmarket estate

The peace and quiet of a security complex was broken by the sound of gunfire in the morning hours of today (Thursday).

POLOKWANE – According to a witness at the scene, a man shot at his wife in their hose in the Sherwood Estate in the city. Following the shot, the woman ran out of the house to the security guard station to ask for assistance.

The source explained the woman said her husband wanted to shoot her and she pled with the guards to assist her.

The guards notified the police and when the husband attempted to run away, he was stopped and detained by the guards until the police arrived on the scene.

When the police arrived, they confiscated the man’s firearm and took the statements of the man and woman regarding the incident.

While the police were busy at the scene, the entire estate was on lockdown until investigations were completed regarding the shooting. The woman was taken to the Polokwane Police Station for further questioning.

Polokwane Police Spokesperson, WO Lesiba Ramoshaba, said no case regarding the incident has been opened.

Sherwood Estate falls under Tysocon Properties. Francois du Toit, part of Tysocon Properties’ Management, said they do not have any information about the incident and they are still waiting on feedback from the couple involved.
