SAPS constable shot and wounded, police seek seven culprits

Police are searching for seven suspects in connection with the shooting of a 26-year-old police constable from Ga-Masemola at around 05:30 this morning (Saturday).

LIMPOPO – According to the information, the suspects who were waiting in a vehicle alongside the road at Mphanama Cross, allegedly drove into the road as the constable was about to pass, causing a collision said police spokesperson, Col Malesela Ledwaba

“The suspects  fired at and wounded the constable when he left the state vehicle,” said Ledwaba.

The suspects stole the officers service pistol together with the state vehicle’s battery, before shooting all four wheels of the vehicle and fleeing the scene in a Cressida, added Ledwaba.

“The constable was taken to hospital and treated for his injuries.”

The Limpopo Police Commissioner Lt General Ledwaba condemned this senseless attack and made the promise that the police will not rest until the culprits are brought to book.
