SAPS clerk murdered: suspect still in custody

The woman's lifeless body was discovered by her two daughters on Saturday morning.

LIMPOPO -The 45-year-old man arrested in connection with the recent murder of a Merriam Vilakazi (42), an administration clerk at the Mahwelereng Police Station, appeared in the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Monday).

The suspect was remanded in custody until 12 September to allow for further investigation.

According to police spokesperson, Col Malesela Ledwaba, the woman’s lifeless body was discovered by her two daughters, aged 24 and 18,  in her home in Tshamahanzi Village  near Mokopane on Saturday.

Westenburg police arrested the suspect near Polokwane after he was found in possession of the Vilakazi’s vehicle said Ledwaba.

The motive for the attack and subsequent killing is still under investigation Ledwaba added.
