Man in court for impersonating a Home Affairs official

The man was taken into custody in Tom Burke, Limpopo on Sunday 9 October.

LIMPOPO – According to a statement issued by the HAWKS, a 47-year-old man who was arrested on Sunday, 9 October for impersonation, fraud and contravention of the Immigration Act appeared in the Phalala Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 10 October.

The man, identified as Simon Pelle, was taken into custody in Tom Burke after information was received that he was in possession of Home Affairs stamps and that he was illegally assisting foreign nationals in acquiring fraudulent birth certificates and ID books in exchange for money said Limpopo Hawks spokesperson, Capt Matimba Maluleke.

During the arrest he was found in possession of a Home Affairs name tag, application forms for birth certificates, fingerprint pads and R7000 cash he added

Pelle will remain in custody until 17 October pending further investigation.
