LIMPOPO – A 31-year-old man has been arrested in Groblersdal for impersonating a medical practitioner. According to police, the man was arrested at the Groblersdal Clinic and charged with impersonating a medical practitioner while not registered as such.
Acting Groblersdal Police Spokesperson, Const Julia Mampa, said the man was arrested on Thursday after nurses at the clinic became suspicious and reported him to other doctors from the area. Investigations revealed he was not a qualified medical practitioner.
“The police were called and he confessed. According to information, the suspect had been working as a medical practitioner at the clinic since September and was using a false name, Ernest Thabiso Scotts. Preliminary investigations revealed that he was practicing as a medical practitioner in Groblersdal, Marble Hall and Dennilton areas from March 2014,” said Mampa.
The man, Makhosonke Mlangetshwa from Tweefontein, appeared before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Monday. He was remanded in police custody to 14 October for formal bail application.
