LIMPOPO – It is alleged the victim, a spaza shop owner, was asleep when three suspects, one armed with a pistol and another with a knife, attacked him.
According to a statement issued by LT. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, the shop owner’s neighbours called the police and through the swift reaction by the police, one of the suspects was shot in the leg and arrested. The other two suspects managed to escape.
The man arrested is from Mamelodi outside Pretoria and has been admitted to hospital under police guard.
A knife used in the commission of the crime was found in possession of the suspect together with a sum of R65 550 in cash. He will appear before the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court as soon as he is discharged from the hospital on charges of possession of a dangerous weapon and suspected stolen goods.
