Robber apprehended after tip-off

A young woman became a hero after she spotted a robber running from an attempted housebreaking in Welgelegen last week Wednesday.

POLOKWANE – She called her local Community Policing Forum (CPF) and revealed the thug’s hiding spot in a nearby bush.

The Edwel Community Policing Forum (CPF) who operates in the Welgelegen and Eduan Park area responded to the call, they apprehended the thug and handed him over to the police. The man and his accomplice have been linked to another housebreaking in Van Zyl Slabbert Street in September 2015.

“We apprehended one of two suspects with the help of a young resident who saw the culprit running away and hiding behind a bush,” Edwel management said.

Edwel management thanked all their members who are relentless in their efforts to make Edwel the safest neighbourhood in Polokwane.

They also thanked the young woman for being aware of her surroundings and reporting this incident. They urged residents to get involved in their local CPF to stop crime in their residential areas.

This man was caught just after a house robbery in Van Zyl Slabbert Street last week, if anyone has information on other crimes he may be linked to can contact the Polokwane police station.
