16 children injured in N1 accident
The impact from the crash was so hard that the canopy of the bakkie flew off, says the police
MOKOPANE – A total of 16 children were rushed to the Mokopane hospital on Monday morning after the bakkie they were traveling in to school were involved in an accident on the N11.
Mahwelereng Police Spokesperson, Const Solly Leso, reported: “The children were seated at the back of the bakkie when a taxi crashed into their vehicle from the left. The impact from the crash was so hard that the canopy of the bakkie flew off. A case of negligent and reckless driving is under investigation.”
Leso further said that it is fortunate that the accident did not claim a live.
Leso warned against the transportation of school pupils in the back of bakkies, saying this was illegal and highly dangerous.
