Lim author’s words come to life in a hauntingly gripping film

The film plays off during the apartheid era in South Africa. Watch the Shepherds and Butchers Trailer here

LIMPOPO – The Limpopo-born author Chris Marnewick’s powerful book Shepherds and Butchers was recently adapted into a film which has received widespread attention.

The film plays off during the apartheid era in South Africa where a young prison guard embarks on a seemingly motiveless shooting spree. The lawyer assigned to the guard’s case sets out to prove his client’s actions were the result of the psychological trauma he sustained by witnessing executions during his time as guard.

Shepherds and Butchers was released earlier this year, directed by acclaimed South African director, Oliver Schmitz.

The film boasts appearances by well-known international actors Andrea Riseborough and Steve Coogan.

The film placed third in the Panoroma Audience Award and currently has a 60% approval rating from the website, Rotten Tomatoes.
