Murder suspect hands himself over to the police

A suspect wanted in connection with the murder of a 44-year-old businessman from the Burgerfort area has handed himself over to the police on Sunday, say police.

LIMPOPO -This is after the Leboeng Police launched a manhunt for the suspect after he allegedly shot the deceased,  Albert Dalom Mashego a well-known businessman from the Kgautswane village, several times on Saturday evening where after fleeing in the deceased’s vehicle, according to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“After receiving a report, the police immediately followed the suspect to where the vehicle was found abandoned along the R36 Road outside Burgersfort with flat tyres, the suspect was no where to be found.,” said Ngoepe.

Ngoepe added; “the deceased sustained multiple gun shot wounds and was was taken to the local clinic but was certified dead on arrival .”

“The motive behind this killing is still unknown but our preliminary investigations have revealed that the deceased and the suspect were having a conflict over soccer players… they are both are owners of a soccer team.”

The suspect is set to appear before the Malipsdrift Magistrate’s Court outside Burgersfort on a charge of murder said Ngoepe

Police investigations are still continuing.
