Infant dumped like waste in Marble Hall

While going through a waste bin in search of an empty bottle for water, a man made a gruesome discovery of a dead baby girl.

LIMPOPO – The body was found in a waste bin near a business located along Schoeman Road leading to Marble Hall last Wednesday.

Groblersdal Police Spokesperson, WO Alpheus Malatji, said an inquest docket was opened following the discovery.

“According to information a passerby discovered the baby’s body covered in a plastic bag near the waste bin. Police were called to the scene and due to the state of decomposition of the body, it is believed it had been dumped there over the weekend. We are still searching for the suspect but an arrest will be made soon,” Malatji said.

The body was taken to the Groblersdal government mortuary.

Malatji warned that concealment of birth was a serious crime and if found, the suspect(s) could face hefty jail terms.

“We appeal to women who have problems to seek help from social workers instead of dumping their babies,” Malatji added.

Anyone with information that can help police find the suspect is requested to contact the Groblersdal Police at (013) 262 8300, the Police Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or visit their nearest police station.
