Bring out the blankies, it’s set to be a chilly weekend

The cold weather is as a result of a cold front making landfall on Thursday.

POLOKWANE – According to the South African Weather Service, the cold front is expected to arrive over the SA Cape Peninsula on Thursday.

“A feature of this weather system which is arguably of greater concern, especially for farmers of small stock, is the dramatic drop in temperature, expected for many provinces,” it said in a press release.

Temperatures in Polokwane are expected to drop to the high teens over the weekend and rain is also forecast.

The weather service says the good news is that by Monday (15 May) there will be a general recovery of daytime temperatures across the entire country, when many regions will experience sunny, mild weather.

“The South African Weather Service will continue to monitor further developments during this period and will issue subsequent updates as required. Furthermore, the general public are urged to regularly follow weather forecasts on television and radio,” it said.
