New Sport, Arts and Culture HOD to start in July
Kgadima Mortimer Mannya, newly appointed HOD, holds a BSc. and an honours degree, both from the University of the North.
POLOKWANE – The announcement of the appointment of the new Head of Department (HOD) for the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture as from 1 April, was made earlier this year following a meeting of the Executive Council, but he will only take up his position on 1 July.
He also has a MSc from Cranfield Institute of Technology (United Kingdom), a postgraduate certificate in Project Management from the University of Bradford (United Kingdom) and completed a postgraduate Management Advance Programme at the University of Witwatersrand.
Mannya has risen through the ranks in the Limpopo Department of Agriculture.
He was Chief Director in 1995, acting HOD in 2012, then HOD, starting in July 2012, for nine months before becoming Deputy Director-General: Agricultural Production, Health and Food Safety at the national Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.
According to Moloko Moloto, the Spokesperson for the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Mannya will have to fulfill contractual obligations and work a three-month notice period in his current position.
The department’s former acting HOD, Mabakane Mangena will return to his former position as Chief Director of Corporate Services and Friday Muswana has been released from his position at Provincial Treasury in an acting capacity until Mannya takes up his position. Muswana will then return to Treasury.
