86 suspects arrested by Lim SAPS for drug related crimes

The arrests formed part of a clean-up operation focusing on drugs in the province.

LIMPOPO – Police spokesperson Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says the 86 suspects aged between 18 and 53-years-old, were arrested for various offences ranging from possession of drugs, carjacking, possession of dagga, burglaries to possession of a firearm without license.

“These operations focused on eradicating the expansion of drugs and trio crimes in the province and have yielded positive results by cracking the whip on criminals,” he said.

In Mahwelereng, a 36-year-old man was arrested for possession of dagga and drugs in which 45 sachets of drugs were confiscated as well as R2 150 in cash.

These included:

– 24 sachets of dagga.

– 18 sachets of rock.

In Groblesdal, 14 suspects aged between 20 and 33-years-old were arrested and the following items were recovered:

– Dagga valued at ±R3000.

– R500 in cash

Ngoepe says 12 packets of nyaope were seized in Modimolle and three suspects (aged 26 ,32 and 23-years-old) were arrested.

“In addition, 27 suspects between the ages of 18 and 48-years-old were arrested in Burgersfort for various offences ranging from possession of dagga, possession of nyaope, burglary as well as common robbery. During these arrests, a stolen Toyota Avanza and drugs were confiscated,” he said.

In the Bulgerivier, Mankweng, Tom Burke, Tzaneen, Bela-Bela, Seshego and Jane Furse, 13 suspects between the ages of 21 and 53-years-old, were arrested for various offenses ranging from possession of a firearm without a license, to carjacking and the following items were recovered:

– One stolen Toyota bakkie.

– Two cell phones

– Four table cloths.

– Two firearms.

– One laptop, gloves and cash.

In Makhado, 28 suspects aged between 21 and 46-years-old were arrested for possession of dagga, illegal immigration and theft.

“The arrested suspects will all appear before different Magistrate Courts throughout the province soon and police investigations will continue,” Ngoepe concluded.
