POLOKWANE – The said incident took place at the Department of Mineral Affairs’ building in Dorp Street at around 18:15 yesterday evening.
“It is alleged the suspects attacked and robbed a security guard and when an official from the department arrived on the scene, they attacked and assaulted him until he was unconscious,” said police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
“The official was afterwards loaded into the boot of his car, however, before the perpetrators could drive off, the police arrived on the scene and the suspects ran away.
The victim was admitted to hospital.
“All the stolen belonging were retrieved on the scene and no arrests have been made as yet,” confirmed Ngoepe.
Police investigations continue, he concluded.
