Man (28) jailed for illegal possession of elephant tusks

The accused was sentenced to pay R30 000 or five years imprisonment

LIMPOPO – Arlindo Fenniasie Maluleque (28) was on Friday, 21 July 2017 found guilty for illegal possession of elephant tusks by Malamulele Regional Court and was sentenced to pay R30 000 or  five years imprisonment, reported Hawks Spokesperson Capt Matimba Maluleke.

Kruger Park rangers made the arrest in July 2016 when the accused attempted to enter the park at the Punda Maria gate. This after the accused was found to be in possession of two elephants tusks which had been hidden in a maize meal bag.

Maluleque was out on thirty thousand rand bail (R30 000) during his trial which is now forfeited to the state, concluded Maluleke.
