96 arrested in separate incidents during SAPS clean-up operation

These operations were focused mainly on the crime infested areas within the province, says the police

LIMPOPO – In a concerted effort to fight trio crimes, which include the possession of illegal firearms and drugs, in the province, the members have managed to arrest 96 suspected criminals during ongoing SAPS intelligence led joint operations which were up and running until this morning.

According to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, these operations which composed of various police units focused mainly on the crime infested areas within the province.

The successes reads as follows:

A 27-year-old man was arrested for possession of firearms and ammunition and suspected stolen vehicles in the Toitskraal area near Mall-Siyabuswa.  During the arrest a Toyota Fortuner (reported stolen in Sinnoville in the Gauteng Province), a Mazda BT50 (reported stolen in Witbank in the Mpu) and a Toyota RunX was recovered.

The members also confiscated a 3,8 revolver, 44 round of ammunition for a R5 rifle, two rounds for Magnum, 45 rounds for a revolver and 14 rounds for a 9mm.

Four suspects aged between 23 and 31-years-old were arrested in the Giyani Cluster and the following items confiscated:

Three firearms, three 9mm magazines, thirteen rounds of ammunition for a 9mm and two cellphones.

Four suspects, who were were terrorizing members of the Botlokwa, Malamulele, Bungeni, Musina, Waterval, Vuwani, Siloam, Mutale and Levubu communities, were arrested in the Thohoyandou Cluster and the following items confiscated:
A Toyota Tazz (hijacked in Botlokwa), a 9mm firearm with 21 rounds of ammunition, six rounds for a R1 rifle, a balaclava, okapi knife and hand gloves and a revolver with six rounds of 7.2 mm ammunition.

Three suspects aged between 23 and 35 -years-old were arrested at Ga-Masemola village near Lebowakgomo or house robbery and possession of suspected stolen properties.

A further 84 suspected aged between 21 and 54-years-old were arrested for various offences committed in the Seshego,  Lebowakgomo, Makhado, Thohoyandou, Bela Bela, Groblersdal0, Lephalale, Polokwane, Maake, Makhado, Musina, Orichstad, Mankweng, Marble Hall, Modimolle, Tzaneen, Mahwelereng and Hoedspruit areas. These suspects were nabbed for offences ranging from carjacking, business robbery and the possession of drugs and firearms.

During these arrests ,the following were recovered :
* 4x 20 lt buckets full of dagga.
* 48 x packets of dagga.
* 4 x firearms and ammunition.
* 30x sachets of rock drugs.


* 7x nyaope sachets.
* R770,00 cash amount of money.
* 54 plastics full of dagga.
* Toyota Tazz
* 21x9mm ammunition , 6xR 1 ammunition, 1x black balaclava, 1x okapi knife and 1x hand glove.
* 6x 7.2 mm ammunition.

All arrested suspects will appear before the respective magistrate’s courts soon, concluded Ngoepe.
