Former farm employees sentenced for fraud

Ewert Werner Lange (34) and Lizanna Lange (33) were both found guilty on more than 450 counts of theft and fraud in the Marble Hall Magistrate’s Court today and given deterrent sentences.

LIMPOPO – The accused were both employed on the same farm as a farm manager and office administrator respectively, said Hawks Spokesperson, Capt Matimba Maluleke.

“They both connived to create a ghost post on the pay roll of the farm to embezzle them. The company suffered a loss of R613 020,69 out of this illegal operation,” he added.

Ewert Werner Lange was found guilty on 230 counts of fraud plus 232 counts of theft and sentenced to 11 years imprisonment, suspended for eight years. Lizanna Lange was found guilty on 230 counts of fraud plus 231 counts of theft and sentenced to nine years imprisonment, suspended for six years.
